Lickety-split

This quilt top went together lickety-split. The biggest job was cutting the strips. I'll layer and start quilting maybe Wed. I'm going to try to link to Judy at www.patchworktimes.com.

Work in Progress

I've moved myself and my cat into Mom and Dad's. Lily seems to have adjusted okay, since she's come out of hiding. I have my sewing space more or less set up - in the dining room beside the piano. I'm working on a baby quilt for my friend Caroline - she's not due until mid-March but I want to get it finished. First is a picture of the quilt before I started. Second is it's current state.

The next thing to do is add the strips on the bottom and some squares to the corner. Then I need to quilt it. I don't think it will take too long.
I did press the seams open - to one side was giving me too wonky seams. It will lay flatter too, which will help with reducing bulk when I go to quilt it.

Another book finished

I've finished reading another book - my tabs are updated. Really I should be packing, but also need to relax.

Not Much Going On

I had to get a pile of marking finished - it's mostly done. I've finished a couple of books - will post them in the finished books tab. I started knitting a scarf made of silk - bought the yarn in Vancouver this fall - it's nice, but very fine.

W.I.P.

In the sewing/quilting world, W.I.P. stands for "work in progress". Some blogs I read have people link to the things they are currently working on - it's neat to see what other people are making and sometimes I get some really good ideas there. Since I'm packing, my W.I.P. this week is packing boxes - no sewing til after I move. Here's the sewing room in it's current state.

Next Project

I finished making drapes for a friend at school - I've had the fabric since Sept, but no time until now. The picture is only a small section - I spent a lot of time ironing them and didn't want to unfold them again. There are 4 panels about 100" long and lined with black out lining. They are heavy.

My next project has to wait until after I move, or else I won't get any packing done. It's a flannel quilt for the soon to be born baby of the owner of the drapes. I want to get it finished ASAP, in case the baby came early (which big sister did). Not sure how I'll lay it out yet - will think about it.

UFO's for 2012

I don't have an official list to play along with Judy at Patchwork Times. Here's my unofficial list:
-Caroline's baby quilt
-Angela and Brent's wedding quilt
-Mallory's quilt
-Kaelyn's first quilt
-Elissa's quilt
-Cadenza's quilt
-Irene's baby quilt

I'm also taking a class to make a Dear Jane quilt. It can't go on the UFO list, or nothing else will ever get finished.

Welcome

I've wanted to keep a blog for awhile now. I really enjoy reading other people's blogs. I also want a place to show off some of the things I've created.
